2016 Honda® VFR1200X - New Adventure Model

Jul. 31 2017 News By RideNow Chandler

Recently, Hond® unveiled the hotly anticipated Africa Twin launching itself into the modern adventure bike market. But, much to our surprise, Big Red wasn’t done there. By introducing the 2016 VFR1200X, a 1237cc, V-4 powered machine, it looks as if Honda® wants to directly challenge the likes of BMW and KTM for adventure bike supremacy, though we don’t have a MSRP yet.

Some features of the 1200 include a single-sided swing arm that houses the bike’s shaft drive system, and a 43mm inverted fork takes care of the front. There is an accessories outlet to charge a phone or run a GPS unit, Selectable Torque Control to fine-tune the bikes power deliver for the different riding conditions, and the choice of manual, six-speed transmission or Honda®’s Automatic DCT transmission. Even with the DCT, you have the option of shifting with handlebar-mounted toggles.

Honda® has also made some changes its two smaller adventure-ish motorcycles, the NC700X and the CB500X. Both of these bikes will have new styling for 2016 as well as taller windscreen and some performance upgrades for each model.

The VFR1200X won’t be available until May 2016
